Fashion's Scenery

Lindsey Thornburg and David Hershberger worked together to make this beautiful, nature-inspired collection. Well this silk rayon totem dress was also influenced by Native folklore -hence the totem. This is one of my favorites from her collection; a mix of tribalness and elegance.

Here's Thornburg in one of her burnout, velvet dresses,in Napa Valley. Lookin' classy and vibrant there!

Photos by Olivia Molone. This one, also taken at Napa Valley; Thornburg in her silk-print flocked, burnout dress. I love her hair accessories too. Something I'd love to own and wear as well... ^^ (pictures from fashion.elle.com)

Cozy Colorful Chic

NEW DESIGNER FROM DA BLOCK! She's chic, she's hip, she's nature-friendly----she's Lindsey Thornburg! Just discovering her on Elle, i conclude that she is absolutely stunning! Her collection of Navajo-inspired cloaks, really, caught my attention for her signature tribal and colorful prints, which are a few of my favorite things! PLUS, looking at the coziness and comfort in this roomy, wool-made garmet, I'd definitely wear it everyday during the cold or winter. Her cloaks, include different styles, as well, from hooded cloaks to the "Druid Hood" (scarf thing as neckline). According to www.papermag.com, Thornburg was much inspired by "The boldness of South America and the American Southwest....", during her trip down to Peru. OH SNAP! I love her more than ever already! Definitely check out the rest of her collection at her website: www.lindseythornburg.com

Apple Cinnamon Cupcakes

I can officially say that I have created a cupcake recipe! An Apple Cinnamon Cupcake with Cinnamon Buttercream frosting! Yummy! Now I can cross one of the items from my bucket list.
What is wonderful about this cupcake is that it is moist, but not too moist from the apples. The apple provide a wonderful crunch while biting into the moist cupcake. For this cupcake, I just threw things together that I thought would give it the perfect balance. And to my surprise it worked!
In the picture, all the cupcakes are the same (apple). The cupcake to the left has red sprinkles and the same frosting, with green food coloring. (to resemble an apple). the Center cupcake is with the plain frosting. The cupcake to the right was the biggest hit, chopped walnuts. the walnuts gave the perfect crunch! I highly recommend if you ever want to do apple cupcake or a cupcake with carrot, banana, or even chocolate

2 cups Flour
1 cup sugar
½ cup buttermilk
½ cup butter, room temperature
1 whole egg, 2 egg whites
1 tbsp. Cinnamon
2 tsp. Baking powder
1 large Granny Smith apple
½ cup Apple butter sauce

Preheat oven at 376 degrees
Whisk flour, baking powder and cinnamon together. Set on side.
Whisk butter and sugar until fluffy. Add buttermilk (Buttermilk substitute: 1 cup milk and 1 tbsp lemon juice, mix and let sit for 5 minutes0
Add eggs one at a time till full mixed.
Add apple butter sauce. Mix through out
Add flour mixture to sugar mixture.
Add cut up apple ( ½ inch cube)
Put in cupcake cups and bake for 25 minutes (?)

Frosting

Bucket List of Treats

I decided to make a Bucket List of everything I wanted to make. For a while, baking has been a passion of mine. I enjoy the look on someone's face after taking a bite of my red velvet cupcakes or of my chocolate mousse. It's wonderful hearing the sound of "yummm" after. I thought I might share a few of my items, and as the year will go on it will progress with my new ideas. My Bucket List contains...
1. Cheesecake with blue berries(I told myself that this has to happen soon, because i am a cheesecake fanatic)
2. Three layer fondant cake (I watch too many fancy cake shows)
3. Apple Cinnamon cupcakes ( be prepared to see the results soon. This idea will be crossed of soon, hopefully soon!)

Chocolate Vanilla Cupcake

Yummy! After making these for the first time a couple weeks ago and sharing it with my fashionable blogger partner, I knew this had to be our first culinary recipe. Who could go wrong with two of the most classic flavors, vanilla and chocolate.
What everyone loves about these cupcakes is that the vanilla cupcake is fluffy and has a buttery taste, while the chocolate frosting is smooth and tastes like the Dairy Belle frozen chocolate ice cream.
I experimented with this frosting a little more for my second try at it. I accidentally ran out of powder sugar and had to think of another option to get that same wonderful taste. My mom luckily had some white chocolate and told me that it would give the frosting a more sugary taste, being that white chocolate is practically made of mostly sugar. Her idea was brilliant and the frosting came out pretty yummy. I might even say better then the first time around!

Introducing.. Pedro Lourenco

Pedro Lourenco, not by a big, fashion, power house, nor a well-established industry name, but a 19-year old, Brazilian fashion designer, who had one of the best collections that stood out during Paris Fashion week. Not only did his flawless designs catch my eye but the fact that hes a Brazilian designer makes me love him more. His collection consist of fabulous cuts and structure of design. I believe his pieces were also inspired by architecture. It's encouraging to know that someone not as "big-named" as Lourenco, has had all his work paid off with in one runway show. Now Lourenco is more than close to having celebrities wear his designs on the red carpet and seeing his name everywhere on magazines. In time, no doubt, would he be known as one of the big shots who dominate the fashion industry. Keep up the great work, Lourenco!

Spanish FLAVA for FAll

Jessica Stam in Valentino's vibrant, ruffled, gown. i recently got back from a trip from Latin America and found so much inspiration. The culture, the people, the landscape, the beach, local food all so beautiful. Now,this fall will be spicing it up with a little Spanish feel; the vibrant and bright colors with sexy silhouettes.

Etro one shouldered dress and bracelet."Whether Spanish eyes are smiling or serious, softly feminine details are always a match" (160) I really love this dress's elegant and classy touch; perfect for a cotillion, any dress-up party, and even the red carpet!.....i also think that the Spanish men in the background is a great touch to the theme. The Spanish hat is perhaps the male's signature accessory over at Spain or Latin America. I like how everyone in the photo is happy and friendly because Spanish/Latin people in general are all VERY friendly, relaxed, down-to-earth, enjoy-life type of people. I would know, since i have family and friends down at Brazil, Bolivia, etc. :)

I just LOVE fall for its vibrant warm colors. Red's mi favorita! I absolutely love this strapless frock from Dolce & Gabbana. It's one of those kinds of dresses you can basically wear for any occasion. I see myself strolling down the Spanish streets, wearing this gorgeous thang whether I'm shopping or going on a date or to a party.

Donna Karan New York blouse and pants. La blusa y los pantalones! hehe, embracing my Latin side a bit. The masculine, broad shoulders and some body at the bust has Spanish written all over it! For some reason, this photo brings back good times. I remember when mi familia took us down to Salvador, Brazil for horseback riding. They all had a blast, but i was too chicken to ride el caballo, frightened that it may run so fast that i'd fall off the saddle. Now i regret for i just missed a great experience. :( ....Anyways if i ever get a chance again, might as well ride a horse with style like Jessica Stam here.

Lovely layered dress from Ralph Lauren collection... I love the choice of material, bohemian silk; very appropriate for this season.. The neckline is very low, but it's quite fine since the length of the dress is so long it lies on the floor, covering skin from waist down. So i guess it's okay to show a little more skin at the bust... ^^

I think so far this is my favorite black dress of all time! The peeped toed, laced, booties are gorgeous as well! All from Christian Dior.. i love how it has the high-low hemming with nice layers of ruffles. I'm not quite sure but it looks leather to me, considering how shiny it looks. It would be a perfect prom dress .... but oopsie daisy $13,000 is not in my budget!

the Drawstring Bag

What's IN this fall for ~bags? im talkin' DRAWSTRINGS; strolling back to the 70s style. i , personally, love long handles on bags letting it hang besides my hips. It has a nice, casual, and comfortable appeal. The dangerouge (corralish red) is Marc by Marc Jacobs ($378) and the patina with scattered metal pieces by Cleobella. Pictures from shopbop.com....

Alice In Wonderland Inspired Rings

I am a huge fan of unusal, artistic jewelry such as these 10 cm tall beauties. Jewelry designer Tom Binn also known as jeweler H. Stern, created an Alice in Wonderland collection. His new couture rings, inspired by the 3-D movie, include representations of the mushroom forest, the topiary garden, cheshire cat, living flowers, and jabberwocky dragon. DO YOU KNOW WHAT I HATE....

.
When people say that they cannot afford to dress nicely. OH GIRL PLEASE.... i tell this to everyone who points there fingers at me and assume I'm some rich kid who can afford all the luxury of clothes! That is NOT the case. FASHION, an expression, a statement, a life, is not always about money....When it comes to embracing your fashionable self depends on your taste, your personal style, and a good EYE. It's how you put it together. Many of us use the advantage of thrift stores and clearance racks. It may be hard and time consuming for others to find the perfect piece of garment, but for me, its like a fun treasure hunt. With a good eye for color, quality, trend, and construction, you can be capable of picking out the perfect outfit for under $20. Then again, NOT talking money... SHOP the closet! Have a good eye for putting things together, making different combinations of outfits from your closet, from mom's or even dad's closet! Many things I'll be posting will not only include my very own designs of dresses and garments, but alot of different outfits created from the simplest apparel and accessories.
